How to install games with cache on Android
What is a cache? Cache – is a file with the .obb extension that contains the resources required for the game to run. If you download the game with cache, you need to manually place it in a specific folder for the game to "see" it.
How do I install the cache?
Method 1. If you downloaded the files to your Android device.
- Install the downloaded APK, but do not run the game.
- Install and open any file manager that supports working with archives, e.g. ES Explorer or File Commander.
- Navigate to the cache folder (usually the Download folder).
- Highlight the downloaded archive (.ZIP) and long-press the context menu, then select "Extract to...".
- Select a folder /Android/obb or /sdcard/Android/obb and press OK.
- After unpacking, you can run the game.
You can also unzip the archive to the current folder and then copy it to /Android/obb or /sdcard/Android/obb.
IMPORTANT! Some games need to be unzipped into other folders. Below is a list of developers and folders where you need to copy the cache to:
- Gameloft – sdcard/gameloft/games/
- Electronic Arts – sdcard/Android/data/
- Glu – sdcard/glu/
What if the cache is not offered as an archive but as an .obb file?
- Find out the id of a game from in Google Play by its URL. It starts after id= and ends before the & sign (if any).
- Copy id from the address bar and in explorer go to the folder /Android/obb or /sdcard/Android/obb.
- Here we create a folder and paste the copied id as its name.
- Copy the obb file to the created folder.
Method 2: If you have downloaded files to your computer or don't want to copy them on your smartphone or tablet.
You can connect your Android device to your computer with a USB cable in drive mode. After that, you can perform the same actions (unzip and copy files) in Explorer.
