How to properly uninstall or disable an Android app

To uninstall a game or programme so that the application does not leave behind unnecessary files, you need to do the following:

  • Go to your device's settings and find the "Apps" section.
  • In this section, select "Application Manager" and the application you want to uninstall (if there is no "Application Manager" item, then immediately select the desired programme).
  • In the application window, tap "Memory" (if this item is not available, see next step).
  • Click "Clear data" and "Clear cache" if the button is still active.
  • Tap back if you've gone in using Memory and Delete.

If the buttons «Delete» is not present or inactive, it means that the application you want to erase is a system application and cannot be uninstalled. But you can stop it from running so that it does not occupy RAM space and does not create cache files. To do this, click "Stop».

If there's no button «Delete», no buttons «Stop», means this software is required for correct operation of Android, in this case it is not recommended to take any action with this application.

You can also delete applications in a very simple way - first tap the application shortcut, and then move it to the top of the screen, where a bin icon will appear. Move the shortcut there. The disadvantage of this method is that the application data and cache are not deleted, to delete them you will have to use some utility to clear the memory of junk files.

Another way to uninstall apps is by using Play Market. You can do this as follows:

  • Go to Play Market and select "My Apps».
  • Click the tab "Installed».
  • Select the app you want to uninstall and go to its page.
  • Click "Delete" and confirm the action by selecting "OK».

As in the previous case, after uninstalling an application this way, cache and data files may remain on your phone.

You can also uninstall apps using special utilities, such as, CCleaner, Easy Uninstaller, Perfect Uninstaller and others. Generally, these tools uninstall applications without leaving any unnecessary files behind. Many of these programmes also allow you to clean up files left behind by previously uninstalled applications.
